Allegiant Air has confirmed that the Sun Country Airlines name will be retired once the operational integration of the two carriers is completed, bringing an end to a brand that has been in service for more than four decades.
Allegiant completed its roughly $1.5 billion acquisition of Sun Country on May 13, 2026. During the transition period, the two airlines will continue operating separately with their own schedules, websites and loyalty programmes.
The Sun Country brand is expected to disappear after the fleets, systems and operational structures are fully combined and the FAA issues a single operating certificate. Until then, Sun Country aircraft will continue flying in their current colours before being gradually integrated into the Allegiant brand.
